Introduction and perusal of the Inaugural Issue of ‘Samvadini’ at the NARAKAS, Mumbai (South-02) Meeting

The First Half-Yearly Meeting of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), Mumbai (South Office-02), was held today in Mumbai in a dignified and well organised manner. Senior officers, Heads of Offices and Official Language representatives from various member offices participated in the meeting. The meeting witnessed meaningful deliberations on the Official Language Policy, the role of TOLIC and the action plan for the forthcoming period.

In his address, Shri Birja Prasad Das, Chairman of the Committee, emphasised the need to go beyond mere compliance with the Official Language policy and make Hindi an integral part of official conduct and work culture. The inspiring address and guidance delivered by the Chief Guest, Shri Harish Singh Chauhan, Deputy Director (Implementation), Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, provided special direction and depth to the meeting.

Shri Hrishikesh Mishra, General Manager, Union Bank of India, emphasised the need to keep Hindi simple, accessible and fluent. He also highlighted the meaningful idea of providing space to regional languages in Official Language magazines. Shri Vivekanand, Assistant General Manager (Official Language), Central Office, Union Bank of India, Mumbai, underscored the importance of respecting the languages of the country and recognising their significance.

On this dignified occasion and prestigious platform of TOLIC, Mumbai (South Office-02), the inaugural issue of ‘Samvadini’, the half-yearly Official Language magazine of the Adjudicatory Board for Major Ports, was introduced and presented for perusal. The Board expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Shri Birja Prasad Das, Chairman, and Shri Sanjay Prasad, Member Secretary, for providing the Board with this opportunity.

Smt. Anuradha H. Sharma, Joint Registrar, and Shri Randhir Kumar, Administrative Officer, participated on behalf of the Board and apprised the members present of the background, objectives and future vision of the publication of Samvadini. It was highlighted that Samvadini is not merely an Official Language magazine, but a strong platform for showcasing the Board’s work culture, knowledge-sharing, creative expression, literature and culture, administrative excellence and innovation. It was also envisioned that the magazine would encourage the exchange of best practices, useful experiences and inspiring ideas among various Central Government offices.

For the newly constituted Adjudicatory Board for Major Ports, the inaugural issue of Samvadini represents a significant and proud initiative. It reflects the Board’s commitment to Hindi as the Official Language, as well as its resolve to foster institutional knowledge, creativity and a culture of excellence.

The successful organisation of the meeting was made possible through the special contribution of Member Secretary Shri Sanjay Prasad and his dedicated team comprising Ms. Radha, Ms. Avinash, Ms. Manali, Shri Lalit, Shri Himanshu and Shri Arvind. At the conclusion of the programme, Shri Ashwani Kumar Sinha, Regional Head, expressed his gratitude to all the participants.

The Adjudicatory Board for Major Ports expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman, office bearers and the entire organising team of TOLIC, Mumbai (South Office-02), stating that such platforms provide an opportunity to ensure that the Official Language does not remain merely a matter of governmental compliance, but evolves into a living language of dialogue, participation and administrative sensitivity.
